Text: Philippians 4:6-7

“Be less anxious and more prayerful…”

We can really be anxious with a lot of things in life! We can be anxious because of an uncertain future. We can also be anxious when things are not going as planned. Being anxious all the time can affect our heart and mind badly. How do we get out of this problem? On a personal note, I must admit that I was quite anxious with a number of things being a new father. I was also worried about the challenges to balance between family and ministry well!

I would like to share with you this wonderful passage that really helped me.

“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7

1. Be anxious for nothing

I was reminded that being anxious was not going to be helpful in anyway! Nothing can be accomplished by remaining worried all the time. I had to settle in my heart to not be anxious!

2. Be prayerful in everything

The challenge was to replace this sense of anxiousness with bringing things up to the Lord in prayer! There was a uplift to the heart to commit items upon items to the Lord in prayer.

3. Be thankful

Rather than think about the negative things, I focused on the things that I could thank God for! There were so many things to be thankful for! One major one was being thankful for all who have kept us in prayer!

Thank God for the peace that He gives to guard our heart and mind! Let us face the challenges of life with this powerful mindset!
