THE TIME FACTOR

Can we know when the prophecy of “The Branch” would be fulfilled?

1. What we may rule out

a) The Branch obviously did not appear in the days of Isaiah, Jeremiah and Zechariah

b) The Branch was essentially a Messianic figure

2. Separating Two Elements

The timing of the appearance of The Branch may be divided into two major segments:-

a) The First Coming

i) The royal line of David

ii) Linking the prophecy of the Virgin Birth (Isaiah 7:14)

iii) The Person who fulfilled all known prophecies concerning the Messiah was none other than the Lord Jesus Christ (Cf. Matthew 1-2; Luke 1-2)

iv) What’s missing at Christ’s first Advent?

v) He did not come to establish the millennial kingdom

vi) He did not come to give battle to Israel’s enemies

b) The Second Coming

i) The Lord Jesus would come again

ii) He would come as King of kings, and Lord of lords

iii) He would give battle to all the enemies of Israel (Cf. Zechariah 14)

iv) He would firmly establish His reign on the earth

v) He would usher in the golden period of the Messianic Kingdom

APPRECIATING THE LORD JESUS AS GOD’S SERVANT

Let us be deeply touched by the fact that despite His rank and role as King, Jesus always maintained the profile and personality of being “The Servant.”
