THE CONTEXT OF THE SUBJECT "THE BRANCH"

All three prophets proclaimed the fact that God would one day raise up a Person who would be called “The Branch.”

1. Isaiah’s time
Isaiah's time context was yet future!

2. Jeremiah’s time
Jeremiah also envisioned the coming of The Branch as something in the future!

3. Zechariah
Though he was one of the few post-exilic prophets, the fact that he touched on the subject of “The Branch” would suggest that it was a prophecy that had not been fulfilled yet (not in his lifetime)!

DESCRIPTION OF THE BRANCH

It is most enlightening and awe-inspiring to note how the prophets described The Branch.”

Isaiah 4:2
1. Beautiful

2. Glorious

Jeremiah 23:5-6
1. He will come from the line of David

2. He would come as King

3. He would be characterized by “righteousness”

4. He shall reign prosperously

5. He will execute righteous judgment in His reign on earth

6. He will protect and save Israel/Judah

7. He will wear a special title- “THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS”

Zechariah 3:8
Zechariah features The Branch in one aspect only. His title would be
“My Servant the Branch”
