CHOICES
Life is full of choices! We will always have to make choices all
the time. Our choices must be made very carefully. Great consequences can
follow; good or bad!
“ If you are willing and obedient,
You shall eat the good of the land;
But if you refuse and rebel,
` You shall be devoured by the sword;
For the mouth of the LORD has spoken”
Isaiah 1:19-20
1. Dispel the idea of “fate”
Some people are trapped by the idea of “fate.” It is as if they
have no choices in life. All things are fated! This is false!
2. Dispel the idea of “no choice”
There are some who teach that everything is already fixed “by God’s
will.” Thus one cannot choose! Another false teaching!
3. “The mouth of the Lord has spoken”
What does this statement teach us?
a) This is God’s declaration
b) This is His will
c) He wants us to choose!
HOW DO WE GUIDE OUR PUPILS TO CHOOSE WISELY?
It is always good to offer alternatives; comparing and contrasting is a good
teaching method.
1. Positive choice
a) Choosing to be willing and obedient to the Lord
b) Blessing will result (Eating the good of the land)
2. Negative choice
a) Choosing to rebel by refusing the Lord’s word
b) Consequences can lead to tragedy (in the context of Isaiah’s time- “death”)
Let us guide our pupils to choose wisely and well!
