PRECIOUS PROMISES
Thank God for the many promise that we may find in the Scriptures. They are rich,
profound and life transforming. Our great privilege as Sunday School teachers
is to open up the Word of God to all our pupils.
PROBLEMS IN LIFE
However, we all know that many of our pupils face problems in their lives.
And when these problems are not dealt with, the lessons we teach do not go
very far. Isaiah the prophet encountered many problems in his ministry as
a prophet. Let’s learn how he faced and overcame the problems he encountered.
DEALING WITH OUR PROBLEMS
There is a short list of problems that are found in Isaiah. Those problems
are still very relevant to our modern day context.
1. The feeling that God had passed us by
“Why do you say, O Jacob,
and speak, O Israel:
‘My way is hidden from the LORD,
and my just claim is passed over by my God.” Isaiah 40:27
a) This was a feeling felt by the whole nation
b) They felt that their ways were “hidden
from the Lord”
c) They felt that they had just claims placed before God
d) But God somehow did not honour their just claims!
2. It is always good to face problems squarely
a) By all means surface the problems
b) Let pupils be encouraged to speak their mind candidly
c) Never be afraid of the kind of questions they will raise up
3. A challenge to all Sunday School Teachers
Let us confidently point people to the Lord’s word. Let us help our pupils
regain confidence and faith in the Lord. God’s Word is offers ample answers
to the problems that our pupils may raise up.
