RICH TIMES OF COMMUNION IN PRAYER
Let us take time to read this insightful text from the Gospel of Mark. Let us
deeply moved in our heart as we ponder how Jesus set aside time for communing
with the Father in prayer.
“Now in the morning, having risen a long while before daylight,
He went out and departed to a solitary place;
and there He prayed.” Mark 1:35
The following thoughts may be highlighted as we ponder the text:-
1. Planned
There is no question that Jesus planned this time out for communion with the
Father:-
a) He chose a time when most people would still be sleeping
b) He chose a place where He knew He could be alone
2. Practice
There is also no doubt as to the fact that Prayer was a Practice that Jesus
carefully cultivated and maintained:-
a) Early morning prayer is not easy to cultivate
b) It takes tremendous effort to sustain such a practice
3. Prayer
a) Jesus must have spoken to His Father in humble prayer
b) We must also expect that His Father spoke to Him too.
GOD’S WORD GIVEN
Let us continue with our study of Isaiah 49. Let us ponder this word.
“Thus says the LORD, the Redeemer of Israel, their Holy One,
To Him whom man despises, to Him whom the nation abhors,
To the Servant of the rulers:
Kings shall see and arise, princes also shall worship,
Because of the LORD who is faithful, the Holy One of Israel,
And He has chosen You.” Isaiah 49:7
1. “He
has chosen You”
This thought alone would have brought great encouragement and joy!
2. “Thus says the LORD…”
The Father’s Powerful Presence would have brought great assurance
to the heart.
