MEDITATION MEANS RETURNING TO THE SAME TEXT AGAIN AND AGAIN
Proper meditation of the word of God would see us return to the same text again
and again. It is only when we find ourselves returning to the same text that
we will be able to fathom its meaning in greater depth.
“And now the LORD says,
Who formed Me from the womb to be His servant,
To bring Jacob back to Him,
So that Israel is gathered to Him.
(For I shall be glorious in the eyes of the LORD,
And my God shall be My strength). Isaiah 49:5
1. Meditation involves Reviewing of the Text
a) Take time to review
last week’s thoughts about being
chosen
i) To be a humble servant
ii) Chosen from the
womb (God’s deep and hidden plan)
b) Take time to cross-refer (Cf. Philippians 2:5-11 the kenosis passage)
2. Meditation involves adding more thoughts
God gave to Jesus some very specific tasks. His main task was to minister to
Israel. He was tasked to bring Jacob (Israel) back to God!
There are three things to meditate upon!
a) Comprehending the task assigned
b) Accepting the task
c) Fulfilling the task assigned
3. Study and meditate on the Life of the Lord Jesus
a) We will find that He understood the Will of God for Him
b) He trusted and delighted
in doing His Father’s will
c) He rejoiced in doing
His Father’s will
d) He fulfilled this prophetic text completely (Cf. John 4:34; 9:4; 17:4)
