MANY METHODS EMPLOYED

Jesus was truly a Master-Teacher. What makes a person a truly skilled teacher? Let us look at some of the teaching methods of Jesus.

1. Proverbial style

a) Jesus was able to couch all He wanted to say in short, pithy sayings

b) The Beatitudes would be a good example of how He managed to put powerful thoughts into a pithy statement

2. Parables

a) One of the most powerful tools a Teacher can employ is that of using illustrations

b) Few have mastered the art of telling parables the way Jesus exemplified

3. Real life incidents

a) Jesus healed many and with each healing, He taught great lessons

b) Jesus made use of real life situations to teach mighty truths

4. In controversies

a) Many controversies arose (Cf. Mark 2… 4 separate controversies were recounted)

b) He made use of these encounters to teach significant truths

5. By His lifestyle

a) One of the most striking ways in which Jesus taught was through His own life's example

b) His exemplary life was a powerful teaching tool in itself

6. Expound the Old Testament

a) Jesus cited the Old Testament frequently

b) He expounded from the OT texts most effectively
