My Testimony

I came to worship at Bethany Independent Presbyterian Church through my wife.

Rev. Dr. Charles Tan as well as messages by the Pastoral staff have been relevant, inspiring and helpful to my real life as well as my spiritual growth in God’s Word. I am encouraged to spend more time in prayer, memorize of Bible verses, read and understand His Word and less time on TV.

I have also been encouraged by the focus on people-relationship building here (versus events or the church building) through the various programs and activities and I look forward to growing with this community. eg. Singing/worship at 8.30 am followed by Sunday School at 9.00 am.

Providing breakfast, lunch and evening snack for members has been a nice surprise for me. This ministry helps worshippers to cement better ties through fellowship and I have so enjoyed getting to know others over a meal. I admire and appreciate Pastor’s wife Sally and all the Kitchen Staff for their dedication and zeal. I also appreciate the members who do all the washing up and the younger members who pitch in to clean-up of the church. Thank you for your servant hood.

This year’s church camp topic “The Secret Place” reminded and cautioned me of the seriousness and focus I should have on when, where and how I should pray. Hopefully and prayerfully, I can catch a glimpse of the Secret Place as I strive to find it.

The genuine and friendly warm greetings from members have made me feel welcome and at ease. I come away weekly sensing the church’s focus is on people, not the building or the programs.

All the powerful sermons and all the marvelous programs will come to nothing, if members treat each other as strangers or treat each other superficially. I am glad that Bethany stays true to its motto “God’s kind of Church…where God is touching lives…and people care for people”. It is my blessing and joy to have been lead by God to BIPC and I look forward to growing with you.

Thank you, Bethany. To God be the Glory.
