Text: Psalm 25

A DEEP PERSONAL FAITH-COMMITMENT

How deep is our commitment to the Lord? It is vital that we have a deep sense of personal commitment if we are to succeed in our faith. Let us ponder how the psalmist David responded to all that he had learned about God.

“My eyes are ever toward the LORD,
For He shall pluck my feet out of the net.”
Psalm 25:15

1. “My eyes are ever toward the LORD”

How may we understand this statement? Let us consider the following thoughts:-

a) An expression of Focus on the Lord

Who else but the Lord could forgive all manner of sins? Who but the Lord could send deliverance in times of great difficulty?

b) An expression of Faith in the Lord

Focus and faith go together admirably. David mustered all his strength and exercised faith in the Lord! Through long years of experience with God, David had learned the secret of having an abiding faith in God. It was this faith that he now exercised as he focused his attention on the Lord!

2. “For He shall pluck my feet out of the net”

Where there is both focus and faith, certain things must result. These results are expressions of the kind of faith we actually possess!

a) Confidence in the Lord

Fear must be dispelled! Unbelief must give way to confidence in the Lord! This was the new and refreshing confidence David found in the Lord! There must be that confidence that God would indeed deliver him out of “the net” that his enemies had entrapped him with!

b) Courage

With confidence restored in the Lord, David found courage to keep battling on. The battle was not just physical but also spiritual and mental (psychological). In all battles, the enemy will always attempt to launch attacks on as many fronts as possible. Only with confidence and courage can any battle be faced and won!

AN EXAMINATON OF OUR OWN

David was deeply committed to exercising trust in the Lord! He refused to yield to the pressures of life, no matter how tough they were! He determined that his eyes would always be on the Lord!

How does our faith-commitment measure up? Let us determine that we will have the same kind of faith-commitment that David possessed! Let us ever look up to the Lord with supreme faith, even when we face the most troubled circumstances!
