REVIEW: THE LORD’S PRAYER    Luke 11:2-4; Matt. 6:8-13

COMPARISON OF JOHN 17 WITH MATT.6:8-13; LUKE 11:2-4

CONSPICUOUS ABSENCE

1.        Understandably so

2.        There was no need to ask for forgiveness when the Lord Jesus was concerned

3.        There was no need to ask about daily necessities, for such was the sense of faith and trust that the Lord Jesus had

4.        There was no need to ask for God’s leading, for He already knew what the Father wanted Him to do. He knew God’s Will in its intimate detail

A BRIEF COMMENTARY ON THE PRAYER-LIFE OF THE LORD JESUS Heb.5:7-8

1.      “Though He was (a) Son, yet He learned obedience, by the things which He suffered” Heb. 5:8

a)      Sonship, was a special and unique relationship sustained by the Lord Jesus (Cf. Gospel of John)

b)      “He learned obedience…” (i.e. He practised obedience)

 

1.      The Prayer Life of the Lord Jesus

a)      He offered up “prayers” (general reference)

b)      “And supplications”  (intense prayers)

c)      “With vehement cries and tears” (Cf.  Matt. 26:36-46)

d)      “Godly fear (reverence)” maintained carefully

e)      His prayers were heard
