Psalm 119

Dear Brethren,

THE LONGEST PSALM
There are 150 Psalms in the Psalter! The longest one is Psalm 119! It is not without significance that the theme of this Psalm is on the "Word of God!" Many were the reasons why the psalmist felt so inspired to write about the Word of God! The following are some of the reasons!

1. Understanding the Lord's Command to keep His commandments
The psalmist was absolutely right when he wrote these words!

"You have commanded us
To keep Your precepts diligently." Psalm 119:4

2. Responding to this express command of the Lord
The psalmist humbly responded to the Lord with the following text.

"Oh, that my ways were directed
To keep Your statutes!
Then I would not be ashamed,
When I look into all Your commandments.
I will praise You with uprightness of heart,
When I learn Your righteous judgments.
I will keep Your statutes…" Psalm 119:5-8

a) There was humble admission that he had not always been inclined to keep God's statutes.

b) But there was also hope that this problem of the heart could be corrected!

3. There was every reason to have a strong hope for the future:-

a) To be unashamed as a child of God

b) To be able to praise the Lord with uprightness of heart

c) To learn great lessons about God's righteous judgments!

A WEEK DEVOTED TO THE STUDY OF GOD'S WORD (14-19 March 2010)
Thank God for the tremendous response made by so many! Let us all look forward to a great time of studying God's Holy Word at the Family Camp! Let us attune our hearts and minds to learn deep and vital truths from God's word that would lead to great blessings!

Prayerfully,
