1 Chronicles 29
"YOURS, O
LORD, IS THE GREATNESS"
A GREAT PRAYER
OFFERED
King David
wrote many wonderful hymns or psalms! Many of the psalms were actually
prayers! One of the most uplifting prayers he had written was preserved
in the following text.
"Blessed are You, LORD God of Israel,
Our Father, forever and ever.
Yours, O LORD is the greatness,
The power and the glory, the victory and the majesty
For all that is in heaven and in earth is Yours;
Yours is the kingdom, O LORD,
And You are exalted as head over all." 1 Chronicles 29:10-11
1. God is to be praised
in prayer!
David sought most consciously to adore God in his prayers. The following
thoughts may be highlighted!
a) He is the LORD
God of the nation (Israel)
b) He is Father to
the nation forever and ever
c) With the Lord are
the following attributes:-
i) Greatness
ii) Power
iii) Glory
iv) Victory
v) Majesty
2. God's rightful
place is to be acknowledged
a) He is LORD
b) He is LORD over
all that is in heaven and earth
c) He is the Almighty
King
d) He is the Exalted
Head over all things!
VICTORY IS HIGHLIGHTED
It is not without significance that David included the word "Victory"
in this great prayer of his!
1. David had experienced many victories from the Lord
a) In answer to prayer
b) Often in miraculous
deliverance
2. David also experienced
defeats in life
a) When he walked
in the arm of his flesh (especially pride)
b) He would often
find himself in dire straits when he did not walk with God
THE CHALLENGE TO
FIND VICTORY IN LIFE
King David would have us learn that it is possible to have victory in
our life! Victory is wonderfully bound to the glorious attributes of God!
Let us seek a victorious faith and life in the Lord!
