CELEBRATING THE LORD'S SUPPER TODAY

We will be having Holy Communion today! Let us truly rejoice in what the Lord Jesus said concerning the Lord's Supper.

The Bread

"And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to them and said, 'Take, eat; this is My body.'"
Mark 14:22

The Cup

"Then He took the cup, and when He had given thanks He gave it to them, and they all drank from it. And He said to them, 'This is My blood of the New Covenant which is shed for many.'"
Mark 14:23-24

  1. Let us partake of the Lord's Supper with deep gratitude.
  2. Let us partake of the elements with a deeper sense of understanding and appreciation.

The Substance Of Things Hoped For

"Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen."
Hebrews 11:1

1. What Faith Is Not

  1. It is not a vague idea.
  2. It is not a good feeling.

2. What Faith Is

  1. It is made up of "things hoped for":
    1. The promises of God.
    2. The Word of God.
  2. It is "substance":
    1. Confidence.
    2. Certainty.
  3. It is "evidence":
    1. Reality.
    2. Concrete belief in things not seen by the human eye.

Without Faith It Is Impossible To Please Him

"For without faith, it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek him."

BETHEL'S 16TH ANNIVERSARY

This week Bethel celebrates its 16th Church Anniversary. A small contingent of 20 from Bethany will be going to celebrate with them on this happy occasion. Here are some things that we can celebrate with our brethren.

1. Established Pastoral Ministry

Thank God for the faithful pastoral ministry exercised by Pastor Christopher Lai!

2. A Supportive Session

Thank God for a strongly supportive Session. The Session Members work very closely with Pastor Christopher.

3. A Youth Ministry With Great Potential

Bethel has a strong youth ministry. Thank God for the promise of great potential among the young people.

4. Challenges Ahead

a. Leadership In The Church

It will take time to cultivate more leaders.

b. Teaching Ministry

Much more needs to be done. It takes patience, perseverance and much prayer effort.

PRAYER MEETING AND BIBLE STUDY IN RECESS

We will not be having the usual Prayer Meeting and Bible Study this week. The Pastoral Team will be ministering in Bethel IPC.

MINISTRY - IPC FAMILY

1. Myanmar

Let us remember the ministry in Myanmar:

a. Bethany Theological Seminary

We have about 100 seminarians in training right now.

b. Orphanage

The person heading this work is Pastor Thara. We have about 80 children in our Orphanage. Five of them are doing tertiary education.

c. Missionaries

Thank God for a growing number of missionaries. We have about 40 of them in the field

d. Pastors

We have about 65 pastors. Some pastors look after a small cluster of churches.

2. India

  1. Thank God for our faithful pastors.
  2. They report on their work on a weekly basis.
  3. Their main work is to do evangelism.
  4. Much follow-up work is also being done.

3. Bethany's Challenge

  1. To remain steady and strong in our support.
  2. To continue to provide the spiritual vision and direction for the IPC family.
  3. To bear a good testimony for the glory of the Lord.
  4. To pray and serve alongside our brethren.
YOUTH CONFERENCE 2010

Theme: The Love Of God
Date: 5-10 December 2010

Major Goals Of The Youth Conference

1. Evangelistic Challenge

We hope to share the Love of God with people who have yet to come to faith in the Lord Jesus.

2. Strengthening Of Faith

We also hope to see many more emerge from Youth Conference with an even stronger faith in the Lord

Organizing Committee

The Pine Trees (Boys and Girls) will be leading the Youth Conference. Let us pray for them:

  1. To learn good skills of Conference organization.
  2. To deepen their understanding of the Lord's work.
  3. To have a deeper appreciation of the Love of God.
WEDDING BELLS

Min Yi and Adrian would be married at Bethany on 18 September 2010. They extend a cordial invitation to all at Bethany to attend their wedding service. The wedding service commences at 10.30 am. The wedding reception follows after.

HE MUST DO IT

When I do it, faith is lacking,
And ambition takes me through;
I promote it for my glory,
By myself His work I do.

If He does it, I am nothing,
Just a channel, nothing more,
He the Worker, I the agent,
This I covet and implore.

He must do it, oh, to let Him!
If I'm yielded to His will
Whether then success or failure,
