THE SUFFERING SERVANT

AN UNBELIEVING GENERATION

A POETIC DESCRIPTION OF THE HIDDEN YEARS OF THE MESSIAH
1. "He shall grow up before Him as a tender plant…" Isa. 53:2
2. "As a root out of dry ground…" Isa. 53:2
3. "He has no form or comeliness…
There is no beauty that we should desire Him…" Ps. 53:2

THE SUFFERING OF THE MESSIAH
1. "He is despised…" Isa. 53:3
2. "He is rejected by men…" Isa. 53:3
3. "A Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief…" Isa. 53:3
1. "He has borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows…" Isa. 53:4
2. "He was wounded for our transgressions… bruised for our iniquities" Isa. 53:5
3. "The chastisement for our peace was upon Him…" Isa. 53:5
4. "By His stripes, we are healed…" Isa. 53:5
5. "The Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all…" Isa. 53:6, 11

THE RESULTS OF THE SUFFERING OF CHRIST

3. "The pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in His hand…" Isa. 53:10
4. "He shall see the labour of His soul and be satisfied…" Isa. 53:11

A NEW TESTAMENT THEOLOGICAL APPRECIATION OF THE SUFFERING AND DEATH OF CHRIST
"Being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed, to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness, that He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus" Romans 3:24-26
