Isaiah 32
PROPHECY
AS HOPES TO CLING TO (ONE DAY - THINGS WILL BE AS THEY SHOULD
BE)
1. There will be a King and he will reign in righteousness Isa 32:1
2. He will have princes to help him rule, and they will rule with justice Isa 32:1
3. A man (as God made him... in His own image) will be:-
a) As a hiding place from the wind and as a cover from the tempest Isa 32:2
b) As a cover from the tempest
c) As rivers of water in a dry place
d) As the shadow of a great rock
4. With reference to people in general health:- (Isa 32:3)
a) The eyes will grow dim
b) The ears of those who hear will listen
c) The heart of the rash will understand knowledge Isa 32:4
d) The tongue of the stammerers will be ready to speak plainly
5. The foolish person (will be known to be foolish) and not called "generous" Isa 32:5
6. The miser will not be said to be "bountiful" Isa 32:5
7. The foolish person will:- (Isa 32:6)
a) Speak foolishly
b) His heart will work iniquity
c) To practise ungodliness
d) To utter error against the Lord
e) To keep the hungry unsatisfied
f) To cause the drink of the thirsty to fall
8. The schemes of the schemer will also be obvious:- (Isa 32:7)
a) They are schemes of evil
b) He devises wicked plans
c) To destroy the poor with lying words
d) Even when the needy speaks justice
9. The (true) generous man will also be obvious:- (Isa 32:8)
a) He devises generous things
b) By his generosity he shall stand
PROPHETIC
TRUTH AND ITS PRESENT-DAY APPLICATIONS
Special Audience - "The Women Who are At Ease" Isa 32:9-14
1. Their personal lifestyles (Cf. Isa 3:16-26)
2. Their influence on the menfolk (implication - Cf. Isa 32:12)
3. Their role in the days of Isaiah (not specified)
Challenge to the Womenfolk of Israel Isa 32:9
(Characterised by "ease" and "complacency) (Isa 32:9-11)
1. To rise up
2. To hear
(Note the women's role in Isaiah's estimation in ancient Israel)
PROPHECY - (THINGS WILL GET WORSE BEFORE THEY GET BETTER) Isa 32:12-14
PRESENT CIRCUMSTANCES
1. The pleasant fields.... Isa 32:13
2. The fruitful vine... Isa 32:12
3. The happy homes Isa 32:13
4. The Joyous city Isa 32:13
5. The palaces Isa 32:14
6. The bustling city Isa 32:14
7. The forts and towers... Isa 32:14
PROPHETIC WARNING
1. The fields can become filled with nothing but "thorns and briers..." Isa 32:13
2. The grand buildings can become forsaken" and "deserted"
Isa 32:14
THE PROPHETIC HOPE PICKED UP AGAIN (Isa 32:16-20)
1. When God's Spirit is poured out on His people
2. Then will there be full restoration Isa 32:15
a) The physical aspects - "The fruitful field" Isa 32:16
b) The spiritual aspects - "The work of righteousness..."
Isa 32:16
i) It will be at peace
ii) The effects will be "quietness and assurance forever"
c) There will be true peace upon the land Isa 32:18-19
i) "In quiet, resting places..." Isa 32:18
ii) "Though hail comes down on the forest..." Isa 32:19
PRONOUNCEMENT
OF BLESSING ON THOSE WHO ARE DILIGENT RATHER THAN COMPLACENT
1. "Blessed are those who sow beside all waters"
2. "Who send out freely the feet of the ox and the donkey" Isa 32:20
